College for Creative Studies ~ Fashion Accessories Major ~ Industrial Design Minor
Four Years. Memories for a lifetime.
2017-2021
After moving to Detroit on a mission to join the new Accessories Design program, where I could sense amazing things were going to happen, I couldn’t imagine the things I would learn about the industry and myself.
I was able to express myself fully and learn what it means to be a working creative, something I had dreamed of forever!
I was part of the third graduation class and endured the pandemic during my junior year. I worked tirelessly in all of my classes and part-time odd jobs to make it through.
I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Below you will see a variety of my favorite projects and what it took to make them a reality.
Hermetica ~ Senior Studio
Post pandemic, I was to design my senior thesis collection. Like many, I fell down tiktok rabbit hole after rabbit hole, I designed the collection to transforms those digital explorations into a tangible collection of products. Confusion, conspiracy, and conformity.
Calvin Klein ~ Sponsored Studio
The prompt: The future of bags
My design spoke through my material choice, hemp canvas and chrome leather. The consumer in mind likes to travel and something to work with their busy schedule.
We got to present our midterms to the Head of Accessories at CK, and after some harsh critiques of the original design, I took that and edited. It was a necessary learning curve at that time in my life.
Prada ~ Collection Design
Each student was given a brand to design a collection inspired by, after research the history of the brand and “method designing” as Muccia, I designed and crafted a 5 piece collection.
I used signature materials like nylon and saffiano leather, mixed with a bold print. Creating 5 completely different product that range the history of the brand, like the steamer trunk bag to full arm length nylon gloves.
Skott ~ Bag Patterning
This bag was created in the class where we learned to make patterns. Taught from the master bag makers at Shinola (which we shared a building with). I pushed myself to create an ultra complicated bag, for a beginner, utilizing multiple types of sewing machines, leathers, liners, stiffeners, and hardware.
Antiquated ~ Bootmaking
Taught by a bootmaker from Detroit, over the course of a semester, we learned to pattern and sew hand welted boots from scratch.
I created a monk book made of kid skin, using a last of which I altered to have a chiseled toe.
